Obstetrician-Gynecologist Profile

As a physician in obstetrics and gynecology I must say the most exciting part of my work is getting to deliver babies. I have two children of my own and I can say childbirth is an event you never forget as a woman and it is an honor to get to be a part of that on a daily basis.

But there is also great variety in the work. Every day is different and that is very special to me.

A typical day in my practice will involve seeing patients in office. This may involve gynecological patients dealing with menopause or an obstetrics follow-up for a patient who is pregnant and has questions. This range of care is something that drew me to the specialty.

A good day is when I feel that I’ve been able to help my patient and figure out what is causing their problem or help with whatever brought them to see me. I like when we have a plan and the patient is on board with that plan and we have follow-ups scheduled and everybody is on the same page and understands what is going on. It is very satisfying as a physician to be able to help a patient and figure out what the cause of their issue is.

I think the patient-physician relationship is special and sacred and I try to develop that trust with my patients. One thing I emphasize to my patients is that it is important to have trust in their physician and know that they are trying to provide the best care. If a patient doesn’t trust their doctor, then it’s very difficult to tell them things that are important. So it is a focus of mine to build that trust by being approachable, listening to my patients and letting them know that I hear them.

I joined NorthBay because I was drawn to the fact that NorthBay looks for physicians who really care for their patients and take pride in finding those types of doctors who are committed to their patients. I wanted to be part of that.

Outside of work, I do a lot of reading and make sure that I keep up on the latest literature and guidelines for my practice. And I practice what I preach, making sure I eat a healthy diet with lots of fruits and vegetables, lean meats and healthy whole grains. I also enjoy taking walks with my family and incorporating physical activities into our daily lives.
