Professional Profile

My career in Occupational and Environmental Health and Aerospace Medicine began with the United States Air Force, where I was a resident at the US Air Force School of Aerospace Medicine in Dayton, Ohio, receiving specialized training in these fields. I later served as director of the USAF Space Command Aerospace Medicine Division in Colorado Springs, Principal Medical Advisor for the Combined Joint Task Force in Djibouti, Africa and then director of Aerospace Medicine Services at Travis Air Force Base. I also have a Master of Public Health from Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School Of Public Health, Baltimore, MD.

I’ve always enjoyed science, and especially biology, so a career in medicine has been the perfect fit for me. Couple this with my belief that work plays such an important part of people’s lives, and I truly believe I’ve found the best of all careers, because I enjoy helping people to find ways to continue their work, but in the healthiest and safest ways possible.

While I treat any and all work-related injuries, most of the conditions I see are musculoskeletal ones; however, work-related conditions can span the full range of medicine.

My care philosophy is holistic, and it encompasses both work and non-work life. I believe care should be accessible without excessive systemic barriers, and I place great emphasis on preventive care and helping patients take charge of their own health. Quietly determined to meet my patients where they are, I will partner with them to improve their health to the best of their ability. My patients know I will ensure they have the knowledge available to make informed decisions about their health, as well as their chances for a full recovery and a return to work.

It is truly a rewarding time for me when one of my previously injured patients recovers and is able to return to work – whether from a minor or more serious injury.

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, hiking, camping and playing golf.
