General Surgeon Profile

I can't remember a time when I didn't want to be a surgeon. It was a calling for me - I like that I can make a significant and immediate difference in my patients' lives.

Trauma is a unique field of medicine. Illness and disease allow the patient time to adapt. But with trauma a life can change in a minute. A trip on the stairs, an auto accident, a gunshot wound - none are expected, but all require immediate medical care.

There's no recipe book to follow in trauma. Almost every time I respond to a trauma call, there's a chance I'll see something I've never seen before. The best way to achieve success, especially in trauma, is to try to bring stability and calm to the situation. I have worked hard to be a well-trained surgeon and at the same time I can keep an emotional balance during stressful situations.

We have a tremendous trauma team at NorthBay Medical Center. I'm proud to work with a group of professionals who share the same passion for trauma that I have.

Away from surgery and the medical profession, my wife Kim and I have been extremely involved in youth soccer. It's a great way to stay involved and give back to the community. We have both coached at Armijo High School, and she went on to coach at Rodriguez High. We were involved the Fairfield-Suisun Youth Soccer League and Solano Soccer Club. For the last four years I've been involved at the state level as chairman of the California Youth Soccer Association-North and member of the United States Youth Soccer Association.

I was born and raised in Napa. My wife was born and raised in Fairfield. After I completed my education we came back here and raised five children. My parents live here, my sisters and their families are in Fairfield, my wife's family is in Vacaville - so this is our home.
