Pediatrician Profile

As a pediatrician, I care for children from birth to age 18 years and look forward to establishing long-term relationships with my patients and their families.

I'm a believer in partnering with and educating parents and caregivers about health promotion and maintenance to help their children thrive throughout their lifetime. When a child and parent come to see me, I emphasize the importance of starting good habits early to maintain lifelong health. We discuss diet, dental care, psychosocial measures and developmental interventions to help your child grow up strong and healthy.

I have a special focus on chronic problems that impact a child's daily quality of life, especially asthma and allergies. I've had additional training in the management of asthma and allergies, plus I suffer from them myself and can relate to how my young patients feel. That helps me to direct their treatment to help them function at their best.

With a background in public health, I am able to contribute to not only keeping the family healthy, but also the community. I lead the Pediatric Immunizations Quality Improvement work group at NorthBay Healthcare, and with a tremendous team effort have greatly increased the immunization rates of our patients in the past few years.

I also have a strong interest in promoting early literacy, and am the Regional Medical Director for the national grant-funded Reach Out and Read program. Early literacy has strong evidence showing a positive correlation with children doing well in school, and developing skills needed for adulthood, like health literacy. A new book that is appropriate for your child’s age and development is given at each physical between 6 months and 5 years to encourage family reading and bonding.
