Cardiology, Interventional CardiologyI have practiced cardiology in Fairfield and Vacaville since 1987 and have patients who have been with me for 20 years or longer. My patients will tell you that they appreciate my personal touch and many of them come to me with referrals from family and friends.
I treat the entire range of cardiac conditions, from hypertension to heart disease and congestive heart failure. My specialty is interventional cardiology, which is a non-surgical procedure for the diagnosis and repair of damaged vessels or other heart structures. In 1992, I helped establish the NorthBay Medical Center Cardiac Catheterization Lab and served as the lab's director until 2005.
In medical school, one of my professors was Christiaan Barnard, the South African cardiac surgeon who performed the world's first successful human-to-human heart transplant. I was fortunate enough to watch him operate and to help take care of his post-transplant patients. He inspired me to pursue a career in cardiology.
I like my patients to be well-informed about their health and I make sure they understand their condition and how we will care for it. I will present the options that are available and we will decide on a schedule of care together.
