Brighter, Bigger, Better: Welcome to the Future of NorthBay Health

Our innovative design caters to every patient’s needs to continue delivering exceptional care.

Patients will soon walk through the doors of NorthBay Health’s newest primary care location at 2470 Hilborn Road in Fairfield. The new address is merely across the parking lot from the old one, but once across the threshold, they will enter the future of NorthBay Health.

Vibrant colors, a flood of natural light, and greatly expanded exam rooms will greet each patient at the new, second-floor location when it opens October 14. This primary care – now a template for all future NorthBay clinics – has been meticulously designed with the comfort and needs of every patient in mind.

“We’ve really tried to cater to all of our patients,” said Samantha Sims-Flores, the practice manager who oversees Fairfield’s primary care offices. “We see every age here, from pediatrics to our geriatric populations. And we really tried to keep everyone at the forefront of our minds with our design.

“Frankly, our patients deserve this kind of space.”

The patient-friendly experience will begin in an expansive waiting room, where adult and pediatric patients will enjoy their own designated areas and entrances. On the pediatric side, children will find tiny chairs, decorated by a variety of animals. Beyond the waiting room, patients will discover thirty, large exam rooms – nine for pediatrics and twenty-one for family and internal medicine. The exam rooms alone are double in size from the original ones at the old location.

Gone are the cramped quarters.

“Our exam rooms will be much larger,” said Dr. Michael Ginsberg, a pediatrician who has served patients at the old location since 2009. “So, we’re excited to have more space. In pediatrics, we’re often dealing with families. A mother might come in with her baby and older siblings in tow.

“Now, instead of being crammed into a space, they will be much more comfortable.”

Every new exam room is also outfitted with computers attached to adjustable arms. For doctors and nurses, this is an essential tool for them as healthcare providers as they connect with their patients.

“Like a lot of doctors, I like to take notes on my computer,” Dr. Ginsberg explained. “But with the old layout, I often had to have my back to the patient while on my computer and it’s an awkward feeling. I like to face my patients when we’re talking.

“I’ll be able to do that now. I can sit down in front of them with the arm extension and face my patients.”

Soothing green and blue painted walls adorn the center’s spacious hallways, as do brilliantly mounted photographs that honor the natural beauty of Solano and Napa counties. The new center also features two, large rooms designated for procedures – one for adults and the other for children – and two, sizeable lab-draw stations with comfortable, cushioned chairs.

Medical supplies are now also only feet away from the exam rooms. In addition, the workstations of medical assistants are located adjacent to the offices of the physicians they work with, ensuring a smoother exchange of information.

Every facet of the center’s layout is designed for the comfort and efficiency of each visiting patient. Wait times are expected to decrease noticeably. Sims-Flores estimated that the primary care presently services around one hundred patients daily, but she expects those numbers to increase dramatically in the coming months.

Designers thus allowed for future expansion. As Dr. Ginsberg proudly noted, “With our new offices, it also gives us room to add more physicians.”

The possibilities are as endless as the future is bright.
