U.S. News recognizes NorthBay Health for high performance in eight essential adult care procedures.

NorthBay Health recently received the prestigious designation as a Top Regional Hospital for 2024-2025 by U.S. News & World Report. The annual study, which evaluated 5,000 hospitals nationwide, also ranked NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield the No. 1 hospital in Solano County.

This marks the third consecutive year U.S. News has ranked NorthBay Health among the nation’s best healthcare systems. Only 11% of evaluated hospitals nationally earned a “Best” designation, analyzing such factors as clinical outcomes, level of nursing care, and patient experience. The stringent assessment included data from NorthBay’s ever-growing Fairfield and Vacaville locations.

“At NorthBay Health, we are constantly evolving and expanding our services to meet our patients' diverse needs,” said Mark Behl, Chief Executive Officer of NorthBay Health. “Our physicians, nurses, and medical staff are dedicated to the best patient experience possible and the recognition in this latest U.S. News and World Report Best Hospital ranking underscores this commitment.

“We look forward to continuing to provide high quality, accessible, and compassionate care throughout Solano County and the broader North Bay region.”

NorthBay Health received ‘high performance’ rankings for excellent care in eight adult care procedures, including consistently high marks in the treatment of heart attack; heart failure; kidney failure; stroke; hip fracture; maternity care (uncomplicated pregnancy); pneumonia; and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Of the eight categories, NorthBay received perfect scores in the treatment of heart attack and heart failure.

The report also marks the third straight year NorthBay has earned high performing marks for uncomplicated pregnancy in maternity care. The ranking highlights NorthBay’s unwavering commitment to closing regional gaps in maternity care and addressing critical needs throughout North Bay’s communities.

“For 35 years, U.S. News has been a leading resource for patients navigating their healthcare decisions,” said Ben Harder, chief of health analysis and managing editor at U.S. News. “A 'Best Hospital' recognition empowers patients to seek out medical care from the best of the best to treat their illness or condition.”

This year, U.S. News introduced additional methodology to identify the 2024-2025 Best Regional Hospitals for Equitable Access. As a result, NorthBay Health Medical Center was one of 98 distinguished, high-quality hospitals dedicated to providing healthcare services to those in underserved or vulnerable situations – one of the core missions for Solano County’s only locally owned healthcare systems.

Such compassionate healthcare is certainly in keeping with NorthBay Health’s legacy of service in Solano County and the surrounding communities. The origins of that service date back to 1956 when community leaders in Fairfield and Vacaville joined forces to initiate a fundraising drive to build a hospital to serve families countywide. In January 1960, their efforts led to the opening of a 32-bed, nonprofit hospital with a commitment to deliver convenient, accessible, and high-quality care close to home.

Today, that tradition continues. NorthBay Health has since expanded to include two hospitals — NorthBay Medical Center in Fairfield and NorthBay VacaValley Hospital in Vacaville — and 37 ambulatory clinics. NorthBay also recently introduced a new, $250 million Ambulatory Network Strategy to build six to 10 clinics in Solano County by 2030. The new clinics plan to be strategically located so every resident in the county would be within 15 minutes of care. So from oncology to open heart surgery, and from birth through the end of life, NorthBay’s dedicated employees and affiliated physicians are ready to bring greater health, wellness, and quality of life to NorthBay’s communities.
